Who Am I?

Updated: Feb 11, 2021

My name is Anjhon Sorza and I just turned 21. Film and photography has always been my passion ever since I was young. I grew up taking a lot of photos and making videos that eventually made other people happy and not just myself alone. This is the reason why I’m studying Bachelor Of Multimedia Arts specializing in Film and Video Production; to unleash my fullest potential as a filmmaker.

Compared to other boys, the first toy that I enjoyed playing was not basketball but a disposable camera. My grandmother gave it to me as a Christmas gift in the year of 2007. It was then changed to a digital camera because my parents saw my enthusiasm in taking photos and filming family events. For me, there’s something romantic in keeping these snapshots of life. When I entered high school, I became part of the filmmaking team of our school. It was the first time I met different award winning film directors and scriptwriters.

But my high school life doesn’t only revolve around filmmaking but also in journalism. I was once an editor-in-chief of our newspaper and I specifically write news and editorial. I’ve been in these categories for 6 years not until I entered 10th grade. I became a news anchor of the radio broadcasting team of our school. If not a multimedia artist, I really wanted to become a news anchor in the future. When I was a kid, I remember speaking in front of the mirror, holding a pencil case, and starts speaking like a news reporter. Hence the reason why I took Humanities and Social Sciences way back in senior high school. Things just changed so much but I regret nothing taking BMMA.

If there’s one thing I can’t live without, that would be music. I know that it may sound funny or cliché, but music is my life. I literally can’t live a single day without listening to music. I feel like my obsession with music has gone too far. I am singing at my imaginary concert for hours instead of doing my tasks. To be honest, this is a problem that I’d like to fix. I’m so out of focus especially now that I don’t have any choice but to learn anything online. Distractions are everywhere and I have to be more goal-oriented. Thankfully, this paved the way for the talent that I’m very proud of having, dancing. I was part of my school’s official dance group called Circulo Del Baile Sayanista. We compete and perform different genres at various occasions and competitions. If there’s one great thing that I’ve learned as a dancer, that is self-discipline.

When it comes to inspiration, I have many. I only follow people who bring out the best in me and inspire me to create something for myself. In short, I only follow artists because they don’t make me feel insecure and jealous over the things that I can’t do nor have. That’s why I aspire to be one in the field of film and photography. Right now, I am a content creator and one of the many reasons is that I want to inspire other people. I want to show them that we all have talent in content creation and we should live our life to the fullest. Be the best character of your own movie.

In my 21 years of existence in this world, I’ve realized that failing is better than doing nothing. This has always been my mantra when I feel exhausted and about to give up. After all, small progress is still progress. Things will get hard in the way and that’s okay. There’s no easy way to go up and I have to work hard. I’m a man of optimism and faith.
